Coping With Bereavement
Losing someone you love and care about is one of life’s most difficult experiences and can be very painful. After a significant loss you may experience all kinds of difficult and surprising emotions such as shock, anger and guilt. Sometimes it may feel like the sadness will never let up. There are no easy answers in trying to come to terms with your feelings of grief. Every situation is unique. Accepting them as part of the grieving process and allowing yourself to feel what you feel is necessary for healing.
There is no right or wrong way to grieve but there are healthy ways to cope with the pain. You can get through it! Grief that is expressed and experienced has a potential for healing that eventually can strengthen and enrich life.
We believe that we have a responsibility to care for our families. Not only during the funeral arrangements but also afterwards in the difficult days that follow the funeral service, by offering support and information on bereavement care.
For a number of years Jonathan Terry has arranged for Dr. Bill Webster, founder and director of the Centre for the Grief Journey and respected speaker and author on the emotional impact of bereavement, to come to Southampton to deliver seminars on a variety of topics relating to bereavement.
